EDO POLY: State Commissioner Emphasizes On Skills Acquisition, SUG Solicits Government Intervention

Commissioner of Oil, gas and mining, Edo State, Hon. Ethan Uzamere has said that, the acquisition of skills is the instrument that will enhance the well being of students after graduation.

The Commissioner made this assertion when members of the Student Union Government (SUG) of Edo state polytechnic, Usen, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Benin City.

He said “Endeavour to acquire skills that will enable you to outshine your mates who relay on securing job, Education is beyond the result/certificate to what can You do?”.

He noted that the bigger picture is the life after school, as the life spent in school is for a short while.

The president of the Union, Comrade Gasali Opeyemi who led the Union members appreciated the commissioner for his good works and his unquestionable effort towards the growth of the State.

Opeyemi said, “though the government has been contributing its quota to the growth of the school, more is still needed to be done in the school, being the only state Polytechnic in Edo State”.

He also seized the opportunity to request for the construction of tarred roads within the campus, construction of new hostel, provision of shuttle Bus in the school community, accreditation of departments, sponsorship of Student week and SUG project, construction of volley ball court.

While responding to the requests, Ethan promised to donate 350,000 Naira to support the construction of the SUG volley ball court and also assured the Union that the other request will be looked into as soon as Possible.

The Union Public Relation Officer, Comrade Kuti Solomon on behalf of the Students of the Polytechnic appreciated Hon. Ethan and Edo State Government for their efforts to develop the Polytechnic.
