Insecurity: FCTA Orders Shutdown Of Schools In FCT

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Education Secretariat has mandated heads private schools and public institutions in Abuja to close down operations Wednesday, July 27 to prevent any possible attack or abduction of students.

In a statement made available to the press, the Education Secretariat noted: “FCT Education Secretariat wishes to inform parents and guardians that the 2021/2022 academic calendar for FCT schools will come to an end on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022.

“All parents and guardians should please take note and ensure their wards are conveyed home in good time from the School premises,” the statement read.

Meanwhile the Federal Ministry of Education has asked Principals of all Federal Government Colleges (FGCs) otherwise known as Unity Schools to beef-up security in their respective colleges to forestall any form of terrorist attack.

The ministry urged principals liaise with the security agencies in their location to protect their schools. This directive is in response to the recent report of a security breach at the Federal Government College (FGC), Kwali, Abuja, at the weekend
