Edo State Police Command Rescues Kidnapped Victims

Edo State Police Command has rescued three persons who were victims of a kidnap incident that occurred on Monday, 1st August, 2022.

The rescue was a result of an intensive bush combing by police personnel after some persons were kidnapped along Ibillo/Ikiran-Ore road Express way in Akoko-Edo local government area, Edo State.This was contained in a press release signed by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer U. Iwegbu on behalf of the Command.

The statement said, the Divisional Police Officer Ibillo Division, in collaboration with the Area Command Igarra, the Military and the Vigilantes covering the area continued the rigorous bush combing which further yielded result on Tuesday, 2nd August at about 5:30pm as one of the victims, 45 years old Babatunde Saheemd was rescued.

It noted that the intensive bush combing continued to ensure the rescue of the remaining two victims.

This also yielded results as the other two victims, Benedicta Olorioke,19 years and Ola Ogedegba, 47 years were also rescued unhurt on Thursday, 4th August, 2022.The command further noted that all victims have since been reunited unhurt with their families.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, while commending the gallantry of the police Operatives, reassures the good people of Edo State that the command under his watch will continue to set up measures and strategies to clamp down on the perpetrators of crimes in the state.

He urged the general public to continue to work in synergy with the Police command, as all viable information provided will be expediently treated with outmost care and confidentiality to ensure continuity in the fight against crimes and criminality to make the state safe for all.
