EDOPOLY: SUG Gets Caretaker Committee

The management of Edo State Polytechnic Usen has inaugurated a caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), pending the election of a substantive executives. The committee took over from the former Executives of the Students Union Government whose tenure has officially expired.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Rector of the polytechnic, represented by the Deputy Rector, Engr. Omoruyi Slyvester charged the new caretaker committee members to manage the affairs of the union effectively until new election is conducted.

The Dean of students, Engr. Kingsley Edobor told ESPU Voice crew that the caretaker committee was constituted in line with the section V of the article XII of the constitution of the student union government and the committee are expected to ensure and sustain a peaceful coexistence between students, prepare grounds for a smooth conduct of a credible election for the SUG anytime soon.

He added that “all Students union government executive members are mandated to handover all the union belongings to the new caretaker committee members within 24hours”

While commending students for maintaining peace on the campus, the chairman of the caretaker committee, Stephen Favor Osasenaga, urged students to support his committee’s drive to midwife a free and fair election. He advised them to direct their complaints and ideas to the SUG office.

Other members of the committee include; Okuntada Olawale Desmond, Otuniya Enmanuella, Moses Obakplor and Osunbor Blessing Osawese from mass communication department as the secretary.

The event was witnessed by the chief security officer of the polytechnic and officers of the Department of State Security, (DSS).
