The Management of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen has received a team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for Institutional accreditation and five other academic programmes.
Addressing the NBTE accreditation team at the Polytechnic chambers, the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Sylvester Omoruyi thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for his support to achieve full accreditation of academic programmes in the Polytechnic.
Engr. Omoruyi also noted that, the Management of the Institution prioritized accreditation of its academic programmes and has made the necessary interventions in the procurement of all basic equipment as well as facility upgrade in order to meet Technical NBTE’s requirement for Institution accreditation and other programmes scheduled for accreditation.
The NBTE Zonal Director, South-South and accreditation team leader, Dr. Musa Hatim Koko acknowledged the remarkable progress made in the Polytechnic since their pervious visit and disclosed that his team compromising officials of NBTE and expertise in vocational and academic fields drawn from various institutions will assess the facilities for the programmes scheduled for accreditation.
He noted that the accreditation exercise is in three phases which include; institution accreditation, resource accreditation and resource visitation. The departments scheduled for accreditation are;
- ND Mineral and Petroleum Resources
- ND Welding and Fabrication
- ND Computer Engineering Tech.
- ND Estate Management
- ND Surveying and Geo -informatiics
- ND Urban and Regional Planning
The accreditation exercise runs from Monday, 9th January, to Friday, 13th January, 2023.
