Edo Poly, ISPON Set up Centre for Safety Studies

The Edo State Polytechnic, Usen in Ovia-South-West Local Government Area of Edo State and the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) have set up a Centre for Safety Studies to offer top-of-the-range training in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at the Polytechnic.

Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Abiodun Falodun said that the development is in line with the institution’s plan to become a go-to-place for technical education.

According to him, “We have entered a partnership for the joint establishment of a Centre for Occupational Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Studies with the aim of jointly providing safety and allied training and certification for final year students of the Edo State Polytechnic to enhance their utilization in the public and private sectors upon their graduation.

“This agreement also covers part-time students that may be admitted from time to time.”

He said that the nature of education at the center includes training, seminars and workshops for basic health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSE), adding that the new centre adds to the wide array of professional education offered by the institution to contribute to the development and growth of the state and the country at large.

Prof. Falodun said that the institution would continue to pursue similar partnerships to expand the scope of professional training at the polytechnic and provide a path for career growth for upwardly mobile professionals.
