Edo State: Government To Build 20 Technical Colleges In The State

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has disclosed that his government plans to build about 20 technical colleges across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Governor Obaseki made the discosure when members of the Benin College Old Students’ Association Worldwide, led by the President, Rev. Friday Emuze, paid him a courtesy visit at the state house in Benin City.

Obaseki explained that, his planning to build about 20 technical colleges, with one in each council of the state to cater for the manpower needed to drive the state’s industrial growth, and ensure the creation of employment opportunities and attainment of self-sufficiency.

He noted that his government would sustain investment in technical and vocational education to drive the state’s industrial growth.

Following the group’s request for the Government Science and Technical College, Benin City, to revert to its original name, the Benin Technical College, Governor obaseki said he is going to hold talks with the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Osa-Oviawe, and make a strong adjustment.

He also noted that his government is working with the Federal Government to make sure, the Federal College of Education, Technical in Ekiadolor starts earnestly so it will train a pool of teachers to help spread the new gospel of revamping technical education in the state.
