EDOPOLY: SUG Holds Seminar To Deepen Awareness Against Cult Activities On Campus

The Students’ Union Government of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, has organized a seminar to deepen the awareness against cult related activities among students on campus.

Admonishing students at the seminar, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Omoruyi Sylvester appreciated the leadership of the Students’ Union Government led by Hon. Ehis Eboh Eromosele for their foresight for embarking on sensitization drive against cult related activities on campus.

Engr. Omoruyi noted that the Polytechnic frowns at any cult activities on campus and over the years, has expelled students who engaged in cult activities. He noted that the Polytechnic’s Management will continue to partner with the Executives of the Students’ Union Government in developing action plan and reforms that will create more awareness against cult activities on campus.

With the seminar titled, “Cultism in Higher Institution of Learning in Nigeria: History, Causes, Effect Vis-A-Vis, Solution” the guest speaker, Barr. (Mrs) Ese Esther Oriarewo expounded on the concept cultism, its emergence in high institutions in Nigeria and the consequences of belonging to a cult group.      

Barr. Esther Oriarewo, while emphasising on the need for government to introduce capital punishment for culprits, she urged parents to monitor the activities of their wards especially, the companies they associate with.

The President, Students’ Union Government, Hon. Ehis Eboh Eromosele in his remark, appreciated the Management of the Polytechnic for their support.

 

Highlighting the projects accomplished by his team within the first 80 days in office, which includes the renovation of the SUG Secretariat and the hosting of the maiden edition of SUG students’ orientation programme, Hon.Ehis Eboh Eromosele revealed that students’ welfare is a top priority of his administration.
