Nigeria U20 female National team, the Falconets have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The Falconets qualified for the bi-annual competition after beating their counterparts from Senegal 7-2 on aggregate.
The first leg of the final round of qualifiers played in Senegal ended 3-1 in favour of the Falconets with all 3 goals of the Nigerian side scored by Flourish Sabastine.
At the return leg played at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city, Flourish Sabastine scored 2 of the 4 goals conceded by the Senegalese.
With the win, the Falconets have now qualified for their 10th appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled to hold in Costa Rica later in this year.
Recall that, the Falconets have appeared at every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since its inception in 2002 as the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship and have reached the final twice, loosing to Germany on both occasions.
