GIZ Explores Collaborative Opportunities With Edo State Polytechnic

In a bid to enhance technical skills and empower youth in Nigeria, representatives of the
Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) recently paid a facility tour visit to Edo State Polytechnic, Usen.

This visit aimed at inspecting procurement possibilities and fostering future collaborations with the institution underscores GIZ’s commitment to supporting educational institutions in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Rector, Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, Engineer Sylvester Omoruyi who was represented by the Chief Librarian of the institution, Mr. Okoedion Innocent expressed gratitude to GIZ for recognizing the institution’s potential.

He emphasized the Polytechnic’s eagerness to cultivate a robust partnership with the Corporation. “We appreciate your societal impact and eagerly anticipate a fruitful collaboration,” he said.

Reacting, the Component Manager GIZ, Mrs. Rachel Schipper emphasized GIZ’s dedication to equipping young students with sustainable technical skills. She noted that the Corporation was on a tour to evaluate technical facilities and identify areas where GIZ can provide assistance.

While acknowledging constraints in offering immediate support to all institutions visited, she assured of GIZ’s readiness to provide as much assistance within its capabilities.

The inspection tour which focused on departments that are crucial to technical education visited: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Welding and Fabrication.

The visit not only highlights GIZ’s strategic interest in bolstering technical education but also signals a promising avenue for future collaboration between GIZ and Edo State Polytechnic, Usen.

Among GIZ’s delegation were; Benedict Obate and Emamorose Felix both Advisors on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Okeke Ebubechuckwu who is a Project Assistant.
