Industry Collaboration: Edo Poly Agric Students Embark On Excursion To NIFOR

As part of effort to strengthen the relationship between students’ class room experience and industry expectations, students from the department of Agricultural technology, Edo state polytechnic, Usen, have embarked on a field trip to the Nigeria Institute of Oil Palm Research (NIFOR).

The head of the Agricultural Technology department and facilitator of the excursion, Mr Friday Ayere expressed confidence that the excursion will bridge the gap between the class room lessons and the industry expectations among the students.  

Ayere noted that the department has been mandated to produced component and market ready graduates that could solve the agricultural problem in the country, therefore the need for early exposure of the students to the practical aspect of their profession remains paramount.

Mr Enefe Kingsley, an extension officers of NIFOR who enlighten the students on the operational structural of NIFOR said the institute was established in 1939 to carry out research and production of oil palm.

 

While taking the students round the different sections of the institute, Mr Enefe Kingsley urged them to put in their best in understanding the practical aspect of their course as it will serve as a stepping stone to attaining greater height in agricultural technology.

The students were taken round the various departments of the Institute, among which includes; the extension department, the seed production department, the nursing department and the palm oil production department
