Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. its process of reconstructing or repairing parts of the body by the transfer of tissue, either in the treatment of injury or for cosmetic reasons. plastic surgery can be divided into two main section: reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery
Reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, Cosmetic also known as aesthetic surgery aims at improving the appearance of the body parts.
These days, people (mostly girls) go for cosmetic surgery because they don’t feel confident about how they look. They resolve to different kinds of surgeries fully aware of the risk involved. Some of the cosmetic surgery categories are;
Liposuction (removing fat from the body)
Fat transfer
Laser (removal of scars and stretch marks)
Breast augmentation/Implant removal
Facial implant/facelift.
Cosmetic surgery, like any type of surgery, is not without risks. Plastic surgery procedures can result in complications ranging from an unattractive or unnatural end result to scarring or death.
Many people mistakenly assume that elective procedures, such as cosmetic surgery, are not as serious as other types of surgery. But all surgeries, even simple dental surgery present the potential for serious complications. In addition to the general risks of surgery, there is always the potential for problems arising from the anesthesia.in some ways, cosmetic surgery can be more challenging than more standard surgery if the patient does not tolerate surgery well. Many of these procedures are performed in an operating suite in surgical centres or a doctor’s office. For most patients, this is not a serious concern. For a patient who becomes critically ill during surgery, being in a facility with an ICU and extensive resources for a very ill patient can make a significant difference in a poor cosmetic outcome: this may be a plastic surgery patient’s biggest fear a result that not only fails to improve appearance but actually worsens one’s appearance compared to before surgery.

Scarring: One of the biggest risks of achieving an attractive result, scarring(scar) is not always predictable, but can be controlled in most cases. Patients can reduce their risk of scarring by not smoking, eating well after surgery, and following the surgeon’s instructions and prescription while they recover.
Nerve damage or numbness: In some cases, nerves can be damaged or severed during any surgical procedure. The result is more obvious, however, if it is a nerve. When those nerves are injured, the result can be an inability to articulate or drooping eyes (bell’s palsy) or an infection of the mouth
Infection: all surgeries carry a risk of infection. Infection can be reduced or prevented by proper wound care and frequent hand washing.
Hematoma: A hematoma is a collection of blood outside a blood vessel. A hematoma may develop after surgery; This usually results in swelling and visible bruising in one area, with a pocket of blood underneath. In some cases, it is minor, but a hematoma can grow large enough to cause pain and even reduce blood flow to the area. In the case of a large hematoma, the surgeon may choose to remove some of the collected blood with a syringe or other similar method.
Necrosis: Tissue death can occur due to surgery or problems that may arise after the procedure. In most cases, necrosis is minor or completely absent, and normal wound healing removes any dead tissue from the incision area.
Bleeding: As with any surgical procedure, bleeding can and will happen. Bleeding becomes an issue when it is excessive, or continues even after the wound has healed. Bleeding after surgery can be a sign that the patient is being very active soon after the procedure.
Death: Every surgery has a risk of death. While that risk may be less than 1% it’s possible for death to occur during the most minor cases of surgeries.
