Turkey Supports Finland And Sweden bid To Join NATO

Turkey has agreed as a Nato member to support Sweden and Finland’s membership of the alliance.

The Nordic countries’ bids to join had initially been opposed by Turkey.Sweden and Finland could not join Nato without Turkey’s support.

Turkey was angered by what it saw as their willingness to host Kurdish militants.

Russia strongly stand against the two nations joining and has used the expansion of the West’s defensive military alliance as a false ground for its war in Ukraine.

But Moscow’s invasion has had a contrary effect, with the path now clear for the two countries to join Nato.
